CJRD is a  Recreation league committed to developing the best fresh meat  players in the region.

New skaters or “Fresh Meat” are given a chance to develop their skills at beginner and novice training/testing before being integrated into league practice. We offer a welcoming space for you to develop your skating and derby skills.

Our Fresh Meat program is designed to teach roller skating and the basics of roller derby to new and novice  skaters. We train skaters, players and potential new referees. There is no obligation to join the league or become a player after you’ve completed the program.

Occasionally new or novice skaters who are interested in playing roller derby do so well in the program that they are fast-tracked to joining league practices once they, complete the base program and move to the Comptetive team to work towards a pass of the WFTDA minimum skill requirements.

  • No experience on quad roller skates necessary

  • We will train you to skate, stop, hit and whip safely

  • Accepting Youth age 7-16

  •

We’re looking for athletically minded people who can commit to a minimum of 1 to 2  practices a week and who are enthusiastic to train hard, play hard and have fun doing it.

We offer:

  • Training in a friendly and encouraging environment

  • Coaching of the basic rule set

  • physical aptitude

  • Sock derby and physical fitness

  • An opportunity to learn and play and to move forward to competitive roller derby, if you desire
